At City Speech Center, we understand that long term speech therapy may present financial difficulties. In our many years of practice, we have helped families  apply for grants from 3rd party financial resources.  A number of organizations offer grants to help cover the cost of speech and language therapy treatment for families. They usually determine the amount based on family income and the diagnosis.

In order to apply for these programs, the following documents are usually required:

  • A copy of your current income tax return (form 1040)
  • A letter from a medical professional that outlines the  diagnoses and confirms the need for speech therapy

You may be eligible for funding through one or more of the following sources:

1. Health insurance:

Many healthcare insurance providers cover speech therapy. Usually a referral is not needed. Plans also have limits, such as $500/year/family member. Contact your provider for more information about your specific plan.

2. Autism Speaks

is an organization that provides a wide array of information, resources, and financial assistance opportunities to families affected by Autism spectrum disorder.

3. Elks Lodge

of Plano may give scholarships or other types of help.

4. Variety of Texas

  • Grants are based on the child’s needs, not the ability to pay. (Variety won’t ask for your financial information)
  • Applications may be submitted at any time.
  • You may apply for up to 4 services (e.g. SLP, OT, PT, etc.) with 1 application.
